On Sunday, May 19, 2024, Munich will join the rest of Germany in celebrating International Museum Day. This annual event is a unique opportunity for locals and visitors alike to explore the city’s rich cultural heritage. This year, several museums are offering free entry or discounted rates, along with special exhibitions, guided tours, and interactive activities. Here are some of the highlights:

  1. Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus und Kunstbau: The Lenbachhaus is opening its doors in a special way for International Museum Day. Staff members are inviting you behind the scenes! They will be offering free tours, providing insights into their tasks and activities. No registration is required, and participation in the tours is on a first-come, first-served basis.   3. NS Documentation Center: The NS Documentation Center offers free entry on International Museum Day. Guides will answer questions and provide detailed information about the permanent exhibition “Munich and National Socialism” and the current special exhibition “Right-wing Terrorism.
