The Chancenkarte, also known as the Opportunity Card, is a new initiative launched by Germany to address skilled worker shortages. This visa grants successful applicants a one-year residence permit to find employment within the country. If you’re an Indian citizen eager to leverage this program, this guide will walk you through scheduling a visa appointment at a German consulate or embassy.
Registering on the VFS Portal
- Head to the VFS global website and search for “VFS login India.” Click on the first result that leads you to the appointment booking page.
- If you’re a new user, click on “I don’t have an account” and proceed to create one by entering your details. An activation link will be sent to your email address.
Booking Your Appointment
- Once logged in, navigate to “Start New Booking.” Remember, visa appointments for the Opportunity Card are currently handled by German consulates, not VFS centers.
- Select the appropriate consulate based on your location. Major cities like Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, and Kolkata have consulates, while Delhi houses the German Embassy.
- Choose “National Visa (Stay more than 90 days)” from the visa category options.
- Since you’re applying for the Opportunity Card, select “Opportunity Card” from the subcategory list.
- As there might not be immediate openings available, you’ll be prompted to join the waitlist. Provide your details accurately, including your passport information, contact details, and current Indian residency address.
Waitlist and Next Steps
- The VFS portal will display a confirmation message upon joining the waitlist. This message includes a reference number for future communication.
- Be advised that appointment slots can fill up quickly. The consulate will contact you via email to schedule an appointment at their earliest convenience.
- While you wait, it’s recommended to explore the Chancenkarte website (https://chancenkarte.com/en/candidates/) for valuable resources.
- Contact us if you would like to have a helping hand on motivation letter, or a German CV.
