Are you dreaming of pursuing your higher education in Germany? If so, you’ll need to navigate the APS process, a mandatory procedure for Indian students. This process can be confusing and time-consuming, but with the right guidance, you can successfully obtain your APS certificate and move forward with your study abroad plans.
What is the APS Process?
The APS (Akademische Prüfstelle) process is an academic evaluation of your educational background. It involves submitting your academic documents, such as your 10th, 12th, and bachelor’s degree certificates, to the APS India office for verification. This process was introduced to combat fraudulent documents and ensure the authenticity of students’ academic credentials.
How to Apply for APS
The first step is to visit the APS India website and create an account. You’ll need to provide your personal and academic details, including your Aadhaar card number and passport number. Make sure to have a passport-sized photograph in JPG or JPEG format ready to upload.
Next, you’ll need to fill in your educational details, starting with your 10th and 12th grade information. Be sure to enter the exact board names as they appear on your certificates. You’ll also need to provide details about your bachelor’s degree, including the university name, degree name, and expected graduation date.
If you’re still pursuing your bachelor’s degree, you can mention that in the application. APS has recently started online verification, so you’ll need to provide your university portal credentials or a professor’s official email ID for verification purposes.
After filling in your educational details, you can skip the “TestAS” section, as it’s only for undergraduate students. You can also choose to provide details about any language proficiency exams you’ve taken, although this is optional.
Payment and Document Submission
The APS fee is currently 18,000 rupees and can be paid online through the CC Avenue portal. Make sure to take a screenshot of the payment receipt, as you’ll need to submit it along with your other documents.
Once you’ve made the payment, you can download the application form, sign it, and attach a passport-sized photograph. You’ll also need to include the payment receipt, a student authorization letter, and all your academic documents.
Make sure to follow the APS checklist carefully and avoid stapling or pasting any documents. Instead, use a paperclip to keep them together.
Send your documents in a sealed envelope to the APS India office. The address is available on the APS website.
Processing Time and Certificate
The APS process can take up to 2-2.5 months, so it’s crucial to start the process early. Once your application is processed, you’ll receive an APS certificate, which is valid for six months.
The APS certificate includes your personal and academic details, as well as a unique APS ID. You’ll need this ID when booking your visa appointment.
